APPLETON, WISCONSIN –During the month of October, Fleet Farm partnered with The Pink Fund to raise money for breast cancer patients so they can meet every day financial needs, and to educate our communities and employees on the impact of breast cancer on victims and their families.
Fleet Farm shoppers donated to the Pink Fund by rounding up their total purchase, or by choosing to make a $1 or $5 donation. Today, we are pleased to announce that this effort resulted in a donation of over $187,500 to The Pink Fund.
These funds will provide 75 active breast cancer patients with 90-day financial grants to help recipients pay for critical expenses, such as housing, transportation, utilities and insurance. By receiving financial support, recipients will have decreased stress levels, and can focus on healing.
“A round-up promotion has been on my vision board for years and I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when Fleet Farm chose to build a campaign around The Pink Fund. What makes this partnership so important – apart from the significant funds raised – is that Fleet Farm also educated people about The Pink Fund as a resource for financial aid for breast cancer patients. We expect to see an increase in applications from the states where Fleet Farm stores are located as a result. We send a heartfelt thank you to the Fleet Farm team and customers for their generosity,” said Molly MacDonald, Founder of The Pink Fund.
In conjunction with the round up campaign, store employees created additional awareness by trading in their signature orange uniforms for pink t-shirts. Fleet Farm employees also were able to participate in learning sessions, hear from breast cancer survivors about their experiences, and discuss breast cancer prevention and early detection.
Steve Jensen Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer for Fleet Farm, said “There are many charitable organizations to choose from with respect to breast cancer. The Pink Fund, however, is a standout because it provides direct financial support to victims. It is a charity that truly resonates with our employees and customers, as shown by their generous donations.” “We are proud to support The Pink Fund, and the recipients of this support,” Jensen said.
